Flower Gifts
Giving flower gifts is a great way to show love and appreciation
to whoever receives them. Valentines Day is the most popular day to
give a loved one flowers. This is likely due to the rose and the symbolism
it represents, which is love and passion. Chocolates are often given
in conjunction with roses because it is believed that chocolate is a
natural aphrodisiac. Chocolates shaped in the form of roses are common
around this time of year.
Mother’s day is another popular day to give flower gifts, although
red roses might not be appropriate. Lilies are the most appropriate
flower for mothers because they represent the unique glory of motherhood.
Other flowers in the arrangement can make for a truly beautiful mothers
day gift.
Around Christmas time, poinsettias are the most popular flower gifts.
Poinsettias are native to Mexico, and are named after the Mexican ambassador
who brought them to the United States, Joel Poinsett. The flowers are
actually small and yellow or white, but the large red leaves are often
mistaken for them. They were believed to represent the star of Bethlehem,
so have been associated with Christmas since their arrival to the states.
